The importance of a quality Omega essential oil supplement

Previously I covered the first of the 3 important supplements you should be taking which was a multivitamin. This article I’m diving into Omega essential oils, commonly referred to as fish oil. (See what I did there? Diving, fish. Ha! At least I’m entertaining myself writing this)

The Omega essential oils are commonly called fish oil because that is the most common and best source of getting them. If you are eating fish 2 to 3 times per week you should be getting enough from your diet. There are two problems with that however.

First most of us aren’t eating fish that frequently. Most of you reading this are living in New Hampshire like me and we have some of the best seafood in the country. Even with that we usually just don’t eat it as often as we should. The other issue is the quality of the fish available. Even here in New England much of the seafood found in a grocery store is farm raised which is very low in Omega essential oils and potentially high in toxins. When purchasing fish always look for wild caught it is much healthier.

OK since we aren’t getting enough from our diet a supplement becomes necessary. When looking at supplements you need a fish oil that comes from quality fish and is properly treated to remove all of the toxins. A supplement will concentrate the essential oils of the fish but also concentrate the toxins if not filtered properly. This is why I am so selective of the brands I carry in the office.

The benefits of Omega essential oils are numerous, just like I covered with multivitamins. And just like the article of multivitamins last week, for fish oil I’ll be focusing on the benefits to our nervous system.

If you remember from last week B vitamins are key in repairing the protective coating around our nerves. That coating is made up of fat. The best type of fat is what is found in the Omega essential oils in fish. Our brain, by weight, is more fat than nerve cells. This fat is essential to speed up the transmission of nerve impulses and to allow our nerve cells to make new connections. A quality fish oil provides the building blocks to make the protective coating around every nerve cell in our body as healthy as possible.

Keep your spine in line with regular Chiropractic adjustments and keep your nervous system healthy with quality multivitamins and fish oil.
